Don’t replace rejection
With the ego
Of the former
They were the original
Rejection
And can only be
Backwards

Stale
Stale
And sitting on the table
No owner to whisk it away
It became lost and unwanted
Once again alone
Becoming cold
Up, down
Hot, cold
Less and less malleable
Each time, less and less
To receive from
Stale, soon to be thrown
Away
I Awake
I awake
The silence ensures the dreams
Stay permanent
I see you
Your friends
They speak to me
But not you
Must be the message
I can’t seem to let it go
Even in dreams
Regret and Aspiration
Find the scars
More telling than birthmarks
There are stories
Lost to the past
Wait in the balance
Of life between
Regret and aspiration
And Stay
Line them up in a row
On a table
And count
Smile
Sigh
Now add one more
And this time
Leave your hand on the table
And stay
